ManyChat and Gmail connect via Zapier — there is no native direct integration. The most common flow is ManyChat as the trigger and Gmail as the action: when someone subscribes to your ManyChat bot, gets tagged, or updates a custom field (like providing their email address in a chat conversation), Zapier fires and sends them a Gmail email. This is how small businesses send welcome emails, discount codes, or follow-up messages immediately after a Messenger or Instagram DM interaction. You can also run it in reverse — a Gmail trigger (like a new email from a specific sender or with a specific label) can tag a ManyChat user or add them to a sequence. This Zapier feature is only available on ManyChat paid plans; free-tier ManyChat accounts cannot use Zapier. Setup involves connecting both accounts in Zapier, picking ManyChat as the trigger app, selecting the event (e.g., 'New Subscriber'), then selecting Gmail as the action and customizing the email content with data pulled from ManyChat's contact fields. Data flows: Subscriber data (email, name, tags, custom field values) flows from ManyChat to Gmail via Zapier to trigger outbound emails. In reverse, Gmail events can pass data to ManyChat to tag contacts or add them to sequences. Pain points: Only available on ManyChat paid plans — free accounts are locked out entirely. Every Zapier action counts against your monthly task limit, so high-volume bots can burn through tasks quickly if the Zap isn't filtered to qualified contacts only. ManyChat's 'New Subscriber' trigger does not capture subscribers added programmatically via Zapier itself, only those who subscribe through a bot flow. Personalization is limited to the contact fields ManyChat has collected during the chat conversation.
